2002 Board of Directors...

The Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club has a nine-member Board of Directors. An e-mail was sent to all members in January of 2002, inviting members to volunteer to be candidates for the 2002 Board. The Club received nine responses from very qualified members. The 2001 Board then decided that there was no need to hold an election, since the number of candidates matched the number of seats on the Board.

Each candidate submitted a short personal statement about herself or himself, which are reproduced below as a means to introduce the membership to the 2002 Board. Three of the 2002 Board members are new to the Board, so we introduce them first:

Rick Stilp
As I currently am a webtv person, I do not have the capabilities for most computer operations other than email & internet. I would still be willing to be a board member in some way. I have always been a "car" person since my first ' 57 Chevy in 1959. I have been a member of a hot rod club in the 50s and 60s and a member, VP and President of the Michiana Corvette Club in the 70s. As you can see its been 20+ years since any club involvment but I still enjoy it. I don't know what is involved with our club but, I would love to serve on the board if needed.

Mike Ritchie
I'm a 40 year old charter member of the club (member #62) and owner of "Big Red", a loaded '01 300M. I'm reasonably active on the Edmunds and Club boards as well as Club chat, and I recently managed the acquisition of the Club shirts and hats at discounted rates through my local connections. My background is pretty diverse, having spent about 15 years doing operational consulting and the last 3 years as the marketing director at an Internet software company. I have a MBA in finance and economics, but don't hold that against me. ;) I personally think that current club leadership has done a great job, and I would like to see the professionalism and growth of the club continue. I believe that membership growth is the key to achieving two main goals: 1) providing an active social and informational environment and 2) providing discounts on M-related items that can only come with a large membership base.

David W. Dawley
First of all, I am a die hard 300M fan. I love this car. It's styling, handling, power and price are a great combination. It has reignited my joy of driving! If there is a piece of merchandise with '300M' on it, I have it (as my wife can attest). I look for any reason to my car out for a drive. I have a page on my website dedicated to the 300M as well as a couple of other 300s. I am also a charter member of the Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club (member #11). My wife thought I was nuts until she bought a 2001 PT Cruiser (she wanted to join a club before she even bought one). I am currently Vice-President and founding member of Flag (Florida CA-Unicenter users group). I was also a founding member for the Raymond James Optimist Club (RJOC). RJOC is part of Optimist International, a service organization dedicated to helping youth around worldwide. I served on the founding Board of Directors for two years. I created and maintained the club's website (http://www.rjoc.org).

As far as what I'd like to see happen in the future: I'd like the club to double it's membership in the next year Personally, I am amazed that there are not more members already. I know there are PT Cruiser clubs with a lot more members already. If you see a 300M, put a club placard on the windshield. I'd like to see more club events Given the number and location of our members, maybe we could go for smaller, more local events so fellow enthusiasts can meet and greet each other. I know that I have enjoyed my chats with fellow members. I'd like to strengthen ties with Chrysler, and help keep the website up to date. I had my dark garnet 2000 300M for months before Chrysler had the color on their site. The 300M special had been around for a while before it made it to the website. BTW, the 'special' should have had a more major upgrade in the HP department. Actually, all 300's should have at least 300HP. Future 300 development: Think V8 rear wheel drive with 350HP or a 4 seat Corvette. Get more dealers involved in membership discounts.

And here are the six returning Board members:

Glenn Beye
I currently hold the title of Vice President of the Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club and I am one of the original 12 founding members. I am the creator of both the first 300M Owners web site -- which was a major stepping stone to the official organization of the Club as you know it now -- and the Club website that you access now. It has been my great privilege to be a Founding Member of "this thing of ours", and a source of great personal pride to me. Over the past year or so, I've had the pleasure of getting to meet some of our Club members September 1, 2001 at the First Annual East Coast Event at Wall Stadium in New Jersey, where 7 of our East Coast members made the trip to get together and discuss all things 300M-related. I am also the creator/assembler and graphics guy responsible for the membership packages that you have all received. I therefore would like to continue in these capacities, and hereby announce my candidacy to re-run for Vice President of our club.

Dustin Newton
I am currently the secretary and a founding board member for the Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club having served since it's inception in the early part of 2001. I also make make our physical deposits with the club's online bank, nexity.com, located here in Birmingham, Alabama. I have owned my 300M since 11:45 am on May the 19th, 2000. I have been active on the Edmunds 300M Town Hall board since about February of 2001, when I first fell in love with the M. In the past, I have served on (I was the youngest elected member, having been accepted several years younger than the minimum age limit in the bylaws) the committee that puts on the Annual (Memorial Day Weekend) Alabama Jubilee hot air balloon races in Decatur, Alabama. The race is the largest (70+ balloons) free hot air balloon race in the U.S. and draws around a quarter of a million visitors annually. While on that committee for 5 years, I served on multiple subcommittees and was elected (while I stepped out to go to the bathroom!) chairman of the Christmas Parade float committee where we placed third amongst 200 entrants, spending a grand total of $20 on a float but relying heavily on creativity and ingenuity to design an attention-getting float that typified the holiday season. I have a heavy background in computers and network administration (I'm currently a network administrator for a company with typical revenue on a billion dollars a year), and I dabble in website design when I have the time. I have tremendously enjoyed serving on the board and as an officer during this critical first year with the club and would enjoy helping the cause this year as well. I would like to remain on the board and would be happy to fill an officer's position if my fellow M'ers desire me to do so. If not, I am still happy to contribute to the success and growth of the club as a board member in any way that I can. 250 members was good for the first year, but I'd like to see us add 500 this year (Did I just hear Doc moan?!)! If there are any other questions I can answer, or if more information is needed, just drop me a line!

Roger Waters
I currently hold the office of President of the Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club. I would be very interested in serving a second term on the Board of Directors, and in an elected office if so nominated. I've had the extreme honor of serving as President during our first year of existence, and I would like to continue to be an active part of the Club. We expect our membership to double in the coming year, offering many new challenges and many new opportunities. I think I have the energy and vision to continue to be a productive member of the Board and would be willing to serve in any capacity where I can help the Club grow and prosper.

Paulette Parong Waters
I've served as Club Treasurer for the past year. I'm one of the few members who doesn't own their own 300M, but Roger (the President) lets me drive his once in a GREAT while. I've enjoyed performing the duties of the Treasurer and have watched the club grow from the initial 11 members to nearly 250 members. It's been fun and rewarding to see our Treasury grow from the seed money from the first 11 members to a substantial year end account balance. I would also be willing to serve a second term on the Board of Directors, and continue as Treasurer if so nominated and elected.

Russ Klass
I am one of the founding members of the Club, and have served on the initial Board. I definitely want to "re-up" for another year. The plant tour this summer will be right in my back yard, and I should be able to be a significant help in organizing it. My experience hosting Dream Cruise last August was a great learning experience.

Brent Johnson
I absolutely LOVE my 300M! I am a practicing attorney in Colorado, and I prepared the first drafts of the Club's Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. I assisted Roger with finalizing the Club's trademark agreement with DaimlerChrysler, and I have assisted Glenn with updates of the Club's web site. I will be helping to prepare and submit to the I.R.S. the Club's application for recognition as a tax-exempt social club. The Club has really started taking off, and I look forward to helping it grow and mature in its second year.

The Club expresses its deep appreciation to the three departing members of the Board, for their contributions in helping get this Club off the ground!:
