2003 Board
of Directors
The Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club has a nine-member Board of
Directors. An e-mail was sent to all members in January of 2003,
inviting members to volunteer to be candidates for the 2003 Board.
The Club received nine responses from very qualified members.
The 2002 Board then decided that there was no need to hold an
election, since the number of candidates matched the number of
seats on the Board.
Each candidate submitted a short personal statement about herself
or himself, which are reproduced below as a means to introduce
the membership to the 2003 Board. Four of the 2003
Board members are new to the Board, so we introduce them first:

Robert
V. Powell Jr.
I'm charter member
33 and a 33 year old Virginia born Electrical Engineer. I've been
a 300M owner since Feb 1999 and still love the car almost 4
years later. I created and administrate our club message board.
I also attend as many club rendezvous as possible and provide my
amateur photography skills to document those events. I coordinated
the Carlisle All Chrysler Nationals Rendezvous in summer 2002
and plan to do so again in 2003. I also provide my meager
shade tree mechanic skills and engineering background to help my
fellow enthusiasts with answers to questions and pioneering efforts
on various modifications. I also currently process and send
out new member packets.

Magiel
Venema
My name is
Magiel Venema. I am from the Netherlands. In our country there
are few American cars and even fewer 300M's. The first time I
saw a 300M, I said to myself, this is the most beautiful car avaialable
today. At that time I was driving a Chrysler Voyager. One day,
I was at the dealer, together with my son. He said come to the
showroom, there is a 300M waiting for you! The rest is history.
Then I came around, through the internet, the 300M club. The idea
was sympathetic to me: all this guys with their boyz toyz (How
bigger the boys, the bigger the toys). So I decided immedately
to join. The first thing I did was ordering the polo, much to
the amusement of my wife and daughter. I visit more or less regularly
the board and I have found it extremely useful. Also I like the
way people treat each other on this board: never is a question
rated as stupid, but always dealt with in a serious way.
I am 60 years old (or young), I am a lecturer at the Breda University
for Professional Educsation in Tourism Management.
I am also the chairperson of another society, so I know how hard
it is to find active people willing to serve a term

And here are the five returning Board members:
|
|
Dustin Newton
I am currently the secretary and a founding board member for the
Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club having served since it's inception
in the early part of 2001. I also make make our physical deposits
with the club's online bank, nexity.com, located here in Birmingham,
Alabama. I have owned my 300M since 11:45 am on May the 19th,
2000. I have been active on the Edmunds 300M Town Hall board since
about February of 2001, when I first fell in love with the M.
In the past, I have served on (I was the youngest elected member,
having been accepted several years younger than the minimum age
limit in the bylaws) the committee that puts on the Annual (Memorial
Day Weekend) Alabama Jubilee hot air balloon races in Decatur,
Alabama. The race is the largest (70+ balloons) free hot air balloon
race in the U.S. and draws around a quarter of a million visitors
annually. While on that committee for 5 years, I served on multiple
subcommittees and was elected (while I stepped out to go to the
bathroom!) chairman of the Christmas Parade float committee where
we placed third amongst 200 entrants, spending a grand total of
$20 on a float but relying heavily on creativity and ingenuity
to design an attention-getting float that typified the holiday
season. I have a heavy background in computers and network administration
(I'm currently a network administrator for a company with typical
revenue on a billion dollars a year), and I dabble in website
design when I have the time. I have tremendously enjoyed serving
on the board and as an officer during this critical first year
with the club and would enjoy helping the cause this year as well.
I would like to remain on the board and would be happy to fill
an officer's position if my fellow M'ers desire me to do so. If
not, I am still happy to contribute to the success and growth
of the club as a board member in any way that I can. 250 members
was good for the first year, but I'd like to see us add 500 this
year (Did I just hear Doc moan?!)! If there are any other questions
I can answer, or if more information is needed, just drop me a
line!

Rick Stilp
As I currently am a webtv person, I do not have the capabilities
for most computer operations other than email & internet.
I would still be willing to be a board member in some way. I have
always been a "car" person since my first ' 57 Chevy in 1959.
I have been a member of a hot rod club in the 50s and 60s and
a member, VP and President of the Michiana Corvette Club in the
70s. As you can see its been 20+ years since any club involvment
but I still enjoy it. I don't know what is involved with our club
but, I would love to serve on the board if needed.
