2004 Board of Directors

The Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club has a nine-member Board of Directors. An e-mail was sent to all members in January of 2004, inviting members to volunteer to be candidates for the 2004 Board. The Club received nine responses from very qualified members. The 2003 Board then decided that there should be an membership-wide election. An online voting process was created and the following results obtained.  Once a board was elected, those members nominated themselves for Officer positions. Another online vote took place and those results obtained.

Each candidate submitted a short personal statement about herself or himself, which are reproduced below as a means to introduce the membership to the 2004 Board. Four of the 2004 Board members are new to the Board, so we introduce them first:

Don Scruggs

I joined the club on the very first day that Roger announced it was open for membership. I am Charter member #14 and I am on my second 1999 Candy Apple Red 300M. My first one was taken from me by a red light runner in October of 2002. My current 300M is a PHG equipped vehicle. I have modified many items on this car and have posted three sub 15 second runs at the track with it. I call my 300M the Red Baron.

I am 44 years old and am employed as a body shop manager by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. I have spent my entire adult life as an automotive technician specializing in electrical and drivability issues. I hold 26 ASE certifications and am a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. I have been married to my wife Elizabeth for 18 years. We live in the Washington DC area just northeast of the city in Hyattsville, MD. I have one adult (at least chronologically ;-) son living in Yreka, CA.

Ken Eyler
“This club has for me, grown from a casual place to surf on the internet to something that is a part of my identity.”  I said that in my pitch to be on the Board of Directors this year, and I meant it.  One of my passions is cars, pretty much anything to do with them, and has been for years.  My 1999 Deep Slate M, Dark Fire, has been a pleasure to drive and modify, and she is the first car that has gotten me involved with an owners club.  For that, I am grateful, because this club has more than just owners of the same car – it has good people.  That, more than the car makes the club part of my identity.

The rest of my identity is defined by my family, including my wonderful wife Cherie, and our menagerie of pets that all live with us in our home in Owings Mills, MD, just Northwest of Baltimore.  Cherie indulges my passions for cars, and shares it just enough to enjoy going to shows like Carlisle with me, but not enough to go on a Banzai trip to Detroit for the NAIAS.  She also has never begrudged me a Mod, and has in fact suggested some that my conservative CPA side said were too expensive.  I am truly blessed because of her involvement.  We have no kids yet, but do not rule them out in the future – so long as the car seat stays out of Dark Fire, we’ll be just fine…

I am 34 years old, and work as Controller of Strategic Edge Solutions, a staffing agency based here in Baltimore, with offices here and in Chicago.  It’s a new job, but so far, I like it a lot – some good people who love my Club jacket!  Without fail, those who have ridden in Dark Fire have said they love the dash and what a nice car it is.  Obviously, they are good people! ;)

I look forward to an aMazing 2004, and will do all I can to ensure that this club continues to grow and prosper.  Thank you to all of our members.   Please feel free to e-mail me at vicepresident@300mclub.org if I can do anything for you, or answer any questions.

Tom Romans

I joined the club shortly after purchasing my 99 300M in March of 2003. Prior to that, I was involved in Club Grand Prix (www.clubgp.com), I was President of the local chapter in Cincinnati (CNCGP – www.cncgp.com) I am a founding member of that organization, and have been actively involved since its inception in 2001. We go racing at least once a month at our local track Edgewater Sports Park (www.edgewaterrace.com). I am constantly tinkering with the performance of my M (it has been dubbed Project M), and I would be more than willing to share anything I learn about my modding my car.

I also regularly attend car shows like NAIAS (have been every year since 2000), and local custom car shows. I have also attended the Chicago Auto Show, and plan to make to some other auto shows at some point, family permitting.

I have yet to attend a 300M Club Group Event. This year, that will change, as I will endeavor to make it to at least 1 major function. I would love to meet some of the members of our club, and attend the events that make our club fun to participate in.

I am 33, and live in Cincinnati (a suburb called Green Township) with my wife (Lisa), and our daughters (Allyson, and Kathryn – due to arrive April 1st.) I am currently employed by Siemens Business Services as a Helpdesk Agent II, performing hardware and server break fix support.

If anyone ever has a question, please contact me.  My AOL IM and Yahoo IM name is: shadowvox6.  Hope to hear from you soon.  Let’s have an awesoMe 2004!!!

And here are the five returning Board members:

Robert V. Powell Jr.
I'm charter member 33 and a 34 year old member from Midlothian, Virginia.  I work as an electrical engineer for a large tobacco company located in Richmond and it keeps me very busy.  When I'm not there I spend much time with my two families: my real family, and my online family aka the 300M Club.  I also have a little side career, that many of you may know as President of our club.  It gives me great pleasure to head "this thing of ours" for a second year.

I've been a 300M owner since Feb 1999 and still love the car over 5 years later.  I regularly manage our online presence (this website and our message board)   I also attend as many club rendezvous as possible.  I'm the annual coordinator for the Carlisle All Chrysler Nationals Rendezvous each summer in July.  I expect to see you all there this year.

Paulette Parong-Waters
Paulette's info will be provided soon.

Rick Stilp
I am proud to have been elected for my third term on the board of directors. I have a fondness for fine automobiles and a history of being involved with some great ones. The 300M is one of the best cars I
have owned and hence, the interest in the club. I do feel that this club has really grown in the last year, not only in membership but, in comraderie, attendence at club meets and on the club forum. It is great to be involved with such knowledgeable people that help other enthusiasts of the 300M with their wide range of situations, problems and advice. I will do my part in maintaining the responsibilities of this position.

Howard Janoff
Howard's info will be provided soon.

Chuck Carleton
Chuck's info will be provided soon.

The Club expresses its deep appreciation to the four departing members of the Board, for their contributions in 2003:

Dustin Newton
Mike Ritchie
Magiel Venema
Roger Waters
