They cannot find out the problem. I changed the control module. Then the solenoid and valves. Then two sensors. After each fix the car runs great for one month and usually goes back into limp mode in city traffic. The tranny guy says the actual transmission seems to be good but they cannot put their finger on the problem. Maybe I will just leave it in limp mode and drive around the city avoiding highways. I cannot afford this every month!!!

You need to know the code(s) -- any OBD II reader capable of reading tranny codes will get that for you -- most parts stores will read them for free.

I do not have the codes now because I left the car once again with the tranny specialist. I have already had it repaired twice at Chrysler Fiat and the limp mode still shows up again. It has a new control module EATX, a new solenoid and 2 sensors and valve body. I am FRUSTRATED.

I wouldn't let them touch it till they tell you what codes come up.

I do not have the codes. They said that I need to change the solenoid and valves. I used a remanufactured solenoid the last time so this time I will order an original Mopar. I can´t find transmission valves on Ebay. Where can I buy this? Here they called it a valve block, I do not know the correct word in english.

It is called a Valve Body.

I bought mine from eBay, it was refurbished with better parts.

Thank you! Do you think the refurbished solenoids from EBAY are good!

You need codes before deciding to throw parts at it... reman valve body comes with a new solenoid pack -- so you do not need to get it separately

They all start as OEM parts and are rebuilt.

I purchased one and installed it in the car and the issue went away for a few weeks. Had to pull it all apart and do the valve body as well.

This is the valve body I purchased-

It does NOT come with a solenoid.

M-Pressive, I ordered the same valve body that you got from Ebay. I want to buy a MOPAR solenoid pack but I am seeing 2 different code numbers. One is 4539766 http://www.ebay.com/itm/190772518534?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

and 4539749 http://www.ebay.com/itm/252346177859?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

ARE THEY THE SAME THING? They look alike.

The interchange part number for the first one is listed in the second one. They are the same.

I would only order the second one if you need the speed sensors.

Thanks! I´ll order the solenoid. If this doesn´t work I´m giving up. I already have spent about$4000 on the car since I got it. (mostly because Fiat Chrysler is SO expensive in Portugal) I had tried a remanufactured solenoid but after one month I was back in limp. They have tried speed sensors and a new EATX module as well. I went to a tranny specialist and he is convinced that the transmission is is not the problem. I want to buy a used one but he said until they identify the problem it could return even with a new tranny. I don´t have all the codes but they have done diagnostics several times at Chrysler.

Just an FYI -- if I were you I would get the CODES before throwing any more parts at it. The codes will tell the story.

Just my 2 cents.

The codes. That is the problem. I took the car to a tranny specialist about 20 miles from Lisbon. Chrysler has given me codes and done work and so has he. Now, the car is not with me and I have no other solution. These cars are rare here. I love it but I am frustrated. Every time I get it fixed it works and then LIMP about a month later. I am ready to give up because I have spent too much money.

If it were my car, I would pick it up from the shop and drive it again till it goes to limp. Then using ANY OBD II code reader capable of reading tranny codes (cheap ones are around $20), you can read the codes yourself and make an educated decision as to what is wrong.

Again -- just my 2 cents.

I second that idea ....my code scanner said tcm.....tcm it was. My dad's friend (ex chrysler tech) said at 175k on these cars his opinion is transmission (met him at a party....on the way to which my code showed up and it did its first limp mode).

I would take the car too and try autozone, advance, oreilly who ever has a decent enough scanner to show tranny codes.....hey its free....

I am in Portugal. No Autozone etc. 300Ms are extremely rare here as well.

Try Ebay or if you have Amazon, etc. You should be able to mail order one fairly cheap if there is no local access to one. OBDII codes are standard and it does not take an expensive instrument to just read them. If repairs are as expensive over there as you indicate, it should pay for itself pretty quick. If not, any local mechanic will have one and give you a readout. When I run into something that I need more than my scanner will provide, i have a friendly local mechanic who will give me a good scan with his expensive Snapon unit for $20, even though he knows I will be doing the work myself.

What we are trying to say is that you do NOT need an Chrysler specific tool to read the transmission codes. ANY OBD II code reader capable of reading transmission codes (virtually all of them are) will get you the codes.

The OBD II code reader is the same in the US as in Europe. Here is a site where you can buy those readers in Portugal:
