I have been waiting until the National Meet was over.

I will be in Massenutten from the 15th to the 22nd

Trip will include lots of stuff.

I have NOT nailed down a hotel yet but have developed a list. Chances of a large discount are weak. Will try to get something going. Hotel will likely be in or near Harrisonburg.

I was thinking we could do some of the following things

Luray Caverns visit
Civil War battle site visits.
Cruise on Blue Ridge Parkway (free) or Skyline drive ($$$)

I am up for Activities all day Friday, all day Saturday, and until lunch time Sunday.

My thoughts are that we can fairly easily combine the cruise with a visit to either Luray OR a Civil War site.

For those trying to figure mileage try using Zip Code 22801

329 from SW NYC (North Joisey) through Allentown & Harrisonburg
444 from Cincy
675 from Jax

Oddly, I've never been to Luray, so that would be my choice.

I will be sending leftover signs from KC meet to the Prez, so there should be a mix of Carlisle leftovers [300M CLEAN AND MEAN] and KC leftovers [300M SPEED THRILLS] for those who can attend. Unfortunately, I am "tripped out" for a while and do not expect to attend.

Careful on your terminology, Mike. Some of us grew up in the 60's and 70's :D :headbang

We're up for it! I have not been to Luray Caverns since I was a kid - I'd love to catch up on the stalagtite organ!

Driving through some "twisties" on some mountain roads sounds great. Sadly, it's just far enough away to put it out of the budget especially this soon after another meet. If I can find a way to swing it, I'll be there but at this point it doesn't look good. You guys (and gals) have fun.

Explaining the difference between stalactites and stalagmites, my Geology Professor in college, George "Rocky" Crowl, once taught me, "When the "tites" go down, the "mites" go up."

I didn't want anyone in this group to grow up in ignorance! :D

Folks

I have been too busy to set up a hotel and am flying out on vacation in an hour

Can somebody (Rob?) try to arrange a hotel in the Harrisonburg/Staunton/Waynesboro/Charlottesville West region?

To close to home and far enough out of my busy season not to show up. I Guess I will need to start talking to the wife.

We were always told to remember by stalagtites go down - they have to hold *tight* (...tite) to the ceiling to stay there.

I always heard that stalactites must hold "tight" to the ceiling to keep from becoming stalagmites.

Moving right along and back to the Mountain Meet, I just found out today that a long time employee of mine changed his wedding date to Sat. the 21st. I am not happy. At age 40 something it is his first marriage and means a lot. I have to go and am p!ssed. I'm out of the Mountain Meet.
