Wow, i have a challenge at Carster.

It isn't my 300m, but its my 81 Cordoba. Rather amusing. :)

I like the Cordoba, I had a '77 with a t-top and a '82 like stock photo below. My vote is for the Cordoba.

Hey! I remember these cars. At the time these were on the market I was the General Manager for a Milwaukee CP dealer. I drove one for 6 months as my "Demo" that was the twin to the one pictured above. It was a great car and I put about 90 miles a day on it commuting. I believe Chrysler came out with this new, more compact styling with the 1979 models. It had crisp styling and was a great driver. At the time I had four kids and so the long trips were all made in my wife's great big hunking '72 Fury III Wagon. That wagon really took a beating. I think it took a day just to wash it, it was so big.

I remember Ricardo Montalban hawking for Chrysler with the 'Corinthian leather' commercials. Do you have Corinthian leather?

The very first car I drove was my dad's 76 Cordoba.
Our didn't have "Rich Corinthian Leather"
It had "Cheap American Suede.."
Actually, it had a cloth interior....
400 4-bbl with Lean Burn
I liked the car very much.

BTW, I think the made the body change in 81...as I think the 80 was still the larger body. 79 was the last year they offered the 300 option on the 'Doba!!

I would like to find another Cordoba to have....
They are nice, big 2-door cars.
If I had my wish, I would get a 79 Doba with the 300 option.

You don't find a lot of people challenging cars that they'll obviously lose to. They're hoping for an easy win for a notch in their belt. It'll be hilarious if they lose to a non-running Cordoba. ;)

Sadly no..:( The original owner was a cheapskate and got it with "sheared" velour. Comfy seats, but the leather ones are a LOT nicer. I have to admit, the seats are better than anything that's in newer cars. I'd really like to get it back on the road this spring. I'm still trying to chase down some drivability problems. It keeps stalling when i drop it into gear.. I've wanted a Cordoba ever since i saw a new one when i was 5. I'd prefer a 1st gen model, preferably a 77. The ideal one for me would be Vintage red metallic with a white leather interior, t-tops, and a 400 4 barrel with dual exahust. :)

1980 was the first year for the downsized J-body. What is really amazing is how isolated the road is in my Cordoba. When i bought four new radials for it, all the little vibrations went away and all you feel is this "floating" sensation. Even tar strips are unfelt. All well and good until you find a curve. LOL!! I have lost about 3 wheelcovers because of that.. I'd love to find one of the 300 edition DObas too. I haven't seen one for sale in a while now..

Yeah, usually the first order of business with a lean burn engine is remove the lean burn setup. :) A mo par electronic ignition system and a regular vacuum distributor and all is well and good. :)

the original commercial showed a diamond cutter cutting a diamond in the back seat while the car was moving and mentioning how smooth the ride was--I believe another one showed a glass of champage in a moving Cordoba---very memorable commercials

Ricardo Montalban was in the commercials too

I owned a '78 with the 400/Thermoquad.

Someone stripped the lean-burn off, as well as the cats, ans ran 18" cherry bombs with true duals.

It was Dark metallic brown, half vinyl roof and camel tan leather. It sat low with 15x10" and 15x8" hurricane style wheels (painted body color between the spokes).....and it came with a 2.40 rear gear ratio.

The dang car would run 75MPH in 1st gear and once you started the tires spinning, they wouldn't stop....it'd leave 1/8th mile long burnouts! Set off car alarms all day long too, as loud as the exhaust was.

In town fuel economy was about 7MPG but at 80MPH it would get 25MPG....it would lug the engine in top gear at 65MPH.

It was a fun car!
