I'm with Rob, anyplace thats clean and close to good eaterys. Someplace that doesn't mind car fanatics milling around the parking lot. Maybe want a place that we could wash our cars (out back) or even close to the local car wash. I'm just throwing ideas out here.

There are several hotels available close to the intersection of I-40 and 19/23 on the West side near Enka. That is convienient to the interstate as well as fairly convienient to the Parkway. Maggie Valley itself would be far more beautiful and picturesque. There are also some neat mountain inns around there but most of those are EXPENSIVE!

Edit: I removed that hotel after checking it's inspection reports for the last three years. Not good.

I suggest we EITHER stay in Asheville OR west of Waynesville NOT anywhere near Canton. The paper mill in Canton stinks to high heaven and would gag a maggot.

I believe that the Biltmore Estate and casino are two things we have planned on, the rest is up to everyone else.

Don, if you can't find the Maggie Valley Opry House, look under "The Stompin' Ground" .....That's what I've always known it as, and it is still on the sign as of two weeks ago. Also Folkmoot is the first week of July.

I have decided to get a time share in the Maggie Valley area for this event. I plan to stay for a week. It will be a two bedroom unit that may sleep as many as 8 but I will post details within 2 weeks I hope.

That sounds good Don. I hope that it will be able to sleep that many. Some other people could chip in and that would defray costs for everyone. I am in Atlanta right now trying to get everything together so I can move, but when I get home, I'll send you a PM on some of my favorite picks for restaurants etc.... for that week.

Here is my problem. The one in Maggie Valley is not available. I could go on a waiting list and hope a cancellation would happen. 50-50 chance. The one in Asheville has vacancies now. Maggie Valley is much prettier but Asheville is convienent in many ways. I need the meet host to make a decision one way or another which location we are using.

It doesn't matter which one you choose. A lot of people have expressed intrest in the event itself, but not any group of things to do. I was thinking the Maggie Valley area simply because some people wanted to tour the Biltmore Estate and some wanted to hit the casino and Maggie is about halfway between the two.

I have one timeshare that sleeps six in Maggie Valley on a waiting list. I am told it will be an almost certainty that I will get it. It is the Peppertree Maggie Valley on Moody Farm Road. I should have it from Sunday June 5th through Sunday June 12th. It sleeps six people with privacy for six.

It is an RCI Gold Crown resort.

Sounds good to me. I'm fine with staying either place and the drives will not be a bad thing considering the scenery, the people, and the caravan of cars. 8)

Everyone should bring FRS (motorola talkabouts) Radios for the road trip conversation.

Don, which place are you looking at in Maggie Valley? I will be up there in a week or so, and I could stop by and talk to some people for you in person. There are a few good places like at the Maggie Valley Country Club as well.

Very close to there. Peppertree Maggie Valley on Moody Farm road. I would have free use of the Golf course when I stay there. I have stayed there before. It is right on Jonthan Creek.

When I go up there, I'll stop in and talk to the people there and see if that makes any difference.

As for everyone else....how much is everyone willing to spend on a hotel room? As soon as I know that, then I'll start talking with the hotels in the area.

Although it may now be a moot point for me I would normally be willing to pay $50-$75 in that area.

It sounds good. If God is willing, I will be coming from New York and then head to Charlotte cause thats where my brother lives. From there I'll head to Asheville. When ever you decide, it will be ok for me. All I need is the information because I'am going to bring my brother with me on this meet.
